The castle of Montrottier is an old fortified house, of the XIIIth century, reworked several times and restored in the XIXth century, which stands on the commune of Lovagny in the department of Haute-Savoie in the region of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, about twelve kilometers west of Annecy, near the gorges of Fier.
The donjon, the Knights' dwelling and the Religious Tower were classified as historical monuments by a decree of September 1, 1919; the land surrounding the castle was classified by a decree of January 5, 1935; the farm and the buildings that make up the castle, with the exception of the classified parts, were partially registered by a decree of November 3, 1987.
