Hispaniolan emerald

The Hispaniolan emerald, a delightful hummingbird from the Trochilidae family, is indigenous to the island of Hispaniola. This vivid bird can be seen flitting about in subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests, as well as in the misty heights of montane forests. Remarkably, even areas that have undergone substantial deforestation frequently continue to support these resilient little creatures. Interestingly, the Hispaniolan emerald shares a close kinship with the Puerto Rican emerald, scientifically known as Chlorostilbon maugaeus. This relationship underscores the captivating diversity of hummingbirds in the Caribbean region.
