The first pharmacy museum in the country was opened on 11 June 1968 on the site of the White Angel Pharmacy, which opened in 1601. The premises were furnished with furniture from the Black Elephant Pharmacy, formerly in the Storno House. The Sopron Museum's exhibition on the history of pharmacy is still open to the public.
The Pharmacy House is Sopron's first protected monument. During the reign of Louis II, the city authorities wanted to demolish it, but the people refused. They went directly to the king and the king forbade the demolition. Then doctors lived in the house.
