Albert Hall Museum, Jaipur

Nestled in the heart of the Pink City, the Albert Hall Museum stands as a beacon of history and culture in Jaipur, India. This magnificent museum, which takes its name from the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, is the oldest in the state of Rajasthan and is renowned for its rich collection of artifacts.

Constructed in 1876 during the reign of Maharaja Sawai Ram Singh II, the museum was originally intended to be a concert hall. It was later decided that it would be best used as a museum to display the artifacts of local artisans, and thus Albert Hall Museum came into being. Designed by Sir Samuel Swinton Jacob, the museum is an exemplary fusion of Indo-Saracenic architecture, combining elements of English and North Indian architecture, topped with multiple domes, arches, and intricately carved stone.

The museum's collection is vast and varied, encompassing everything from metalwork, ivory carvings, and jewelry to textiles, pottery, and arms and armor. Among its most prized possessions are the Egyptian mummy, the Diwan-e-Aam's Persian Garden Carpet, and the beautiful collection of miniature paintings. The museum also houses a rich collection of musical instruments, costumes, and furniture that offer a glimpse into the lifestyle of the Rajput royalty.

The galleries inside the museum are arranged on two floors, with each room dedicated to a particular theme or type of artifact.
