Golden Temple, Amritsar

The Golden Temple, also known as Sri Harmandir Sahib, is not just the most revered gurdwara in Sikhism but also a symbol of unity and peace situated in the city of Amritsar, India. The temple's foundation was laid in the 16th century by Guru Ram Das, the fourth Sikh Guru, and was completed by his successor, Guru Arjan. The best time to visit the Golden Temple is early morning or late evening when the Palki Sahib ceremony takes place, which involves carrying the Guru Granth Sahib to and from the inner sanctum. The temple, beautifully illuminated at night, presents a breathtaking view, reflecting on the serene waters of the Amrit Sarovar.

As a place of worship, visitors should dress modestly and cover their heads upon entering the temple premises. Photography inside the main temple is restricted, so tourists should be mindful of the rules and maintain the sanctity of this holy site.
