Nuranang Falls

Nuranang Falls, also known as Bong Bong Falls, is a stunning cascade located in the Tawang district of Arunachal Pradesh, India. This spectacular waterfall is approximately 100 meters in height and is one of the most magnificent yet lesser-known natural wonders in the northeastern part of the country. It lies on the way to Tawang from Bomdila, near the town of Jang.

The falls are named after Nura, a local Monpa girl who aided an Indian soldier during the Sino-Indian War. This act of bravery etches Nuranang Falls not only as a natural spectacle but also as a symbol of valor and sacrifice. The falls are fed by the Nuranang River, which originates from the northern slopes of the Sela Pass.

Visitors to Nuranang Falls are greeted with the thunderous sound of the water plunging into the pool below, creating a misty aura that is both haunting and enchanting. The area around the falls is relatively untouched, offering a pristine natural environment that is ideal for photography and nature walks.

The falls also play a role in local hydroelectricity generation, with a small power plant situated near its base, harnessing the water's energy to provide power to the nearby regions.
