The Center for the Study of Buddhist Art Materials, Nara National Museum, was established in 1980 for the purpose of research, storage, and exhibition of Buddhist art materials and related materials.
The building was designed by Sadamu Sekino, a Japanese architectural historian, and completed in 1902, and was designated as a National Important Cultural Property on January 7, 1983.
