Facts and practical information

Chuson-ji Konjikido is a Buddhist temple built in the late Heian period in Chuson-ji, Hiraizumi-cho, Nishi-Inai-gun, Iwate Prefecture. It was built in the first year of Tenji by Kiyohira Fujiwara, the first generation of the Oshu Fujiwara clan. Together with Byodoin's Phoenix Hall, it is a representative example of Heian-era Pure Land Buddhism architecture, and is designated a National Treasure for its collection of contemporary techniques. The hall is owned by Konjiki-in, a religious corporation. For more information on Chuson-ji's history, architecture other than Konjikido, and cultural properties, see the separate section "Chuson-ji.
