Facts and practical information

Muramatsuyama Kokuzōdō is a temple of the Toyozan school of Shingon Buddhism located in Tokai-mura, Naka-gun, Ibaraki Prefecture. The temple name is Hidaka-ji. The main deity is Kokuzo Bosatsu, said to have been created by Kukai. Together with Ise Asakuma-san Kongoshoji Temple in Ise City, Mie Prefecture and Enzoji Temple in Yanaizu Town, Kawanuma County, Fukushima Prefecture, the temple is considered one of the three largest kokuzo halls in Japan. Locals call the temple "Kuokuzo-san" in Muramatsuyama, and in northern Ibaraki and Tochigi prefectures, "Kuokuzo-san" generally refers to this temple.
