When Is the Best Time To Visit Latvia?
The answer to the question of what is the best month to visit Latvia depends on what you are interested in doing during your stay. Here you can see an overview of each month and its typical weather conditions.
Tourist Season in Latvia
Latvia is best visited during the summer months from June to August. Sunny days encourage both beachcombing, sea bathing along the coast, and hiking or biking. This is the ideal time to walk around the city and organize round trips around the country combined with visits to the most important monuments. Rainfall is unavoidable in summer, so it's worth getting an umbrella or a cape.
The spring (April-May) and autumn (September-October) months are also a relatively good time to travel to Latvia. The days are cooler and cloudier, but we can still count on melt and sunshine, and Latvian nature in spring or autumn makes up for weather woes.
The winter months (November through March) are outside the tourist season. Frosts and heavy snowfall make travel in Latvia difficult. There may be traffic problems, less traveled roads may be impassable due to snowfall. It is not a favorable time for sightseeing or hiking. In winter, skiing and snowboarding enthusiasts can head to the Sigulda area, where there are ski resorts, slopes and a bobsled track in the surrounding hills.
