Facts About Kūčiukai
Kūčiukai are a beloved Lithuanian delicacy, particularly during Kūčios, the traditional Christmas Eve dinner in Lithuania. These tiny, mildly sweet pastries are made from leavened dough and sprinkled with poppy seeds. Kūčiukai come in varying levels of sweetness and are often enjoyed soaked in poppy seed milk, though they are equally delightful on their own. Interestingly, these little treats were originally baked as small loaves of bread to honor the spirits, known as "vėlės."
