Devilstone Open Air

Devilstone Open Air is a dynamic rock and metal music festival held every summer in the picturesque town of Anykščiai, Lithuania. Since its inception in 2009, the festival has become a staple for music enthusiasts, attracting fans from all over the world to enjoy a weekend of electrifying performances.

Each year, around the third weekend of July, Devilstone Open Air showcases an impressive lineup of bands spanning a wide array of genres. From the intense sounds of black metal and death metal to the powerful riffs of thrash and power metal, and even the more experimental vibes of post-rock and progressive rock, there's something for every rock and metal aficionado. Bands and artists from Europe, North and South America, and Australia have all graced the festival's stages.

But Devilstone isn't just about the music. The festival also offers a variety of engaging activities. Attendees can participate in workshops and masterclasses to hone their musical skills, enjoy a lively club night called Rocktheque, compete in sports tournaments, and even take part in quirky events like the MC Growl competition.

Despite its popularity, the festival hasn't been without controversy. Over the years, it has faced criticism from certain quarters, such as the Lithuanian Association of Exorcists, which labeled the band Sepultura as 'satanic,' and local religious figures expressing concerns about bands like Mayhem and Ondskapt.

One notable feature of the festival's early years was the MetalClinic stage, which ran from 2009 to 2013. This stage was a hub for musical improvisation, competitions, surprise performances, and workshops. It also hosted the MC Growl fights, allowing anyone with the talent and courage to step up and perform.

Devilstone Open Air continues to be a highlight of the summer for rock and metal fans, offering a unique blend of music, activities, and community spirit.
