Facts About Yaga Gathering
Yaga Gathering is a unique and transformative festival set in the picturesque Ežeraitis Forest near Spengla Lake in Lithuania’s Varėna District. Located just about 60 kilometers south of Vilnius, this festival stands out as it operates entirely on ticket sales, free from corporate sponsorships.
What sets Yaga Gathering apart is its diverse lineup of DJs and live bands from around the globe, performing across four different stages. But music is just the beginning. The festival offers a variety of activities including an open-air cinema, enlightening lectures, yoga and meditation sessions, hands-on workshops, and even a dedicated children's area. The festival grounds are adorned with stunning art installations and constructed with eco-friendly infrastructure, emphasizing sustainability. Additionally, attendees have the option to camp on-site, making it a fully immersive experience.
The festival began in 2003 under the name Shambala Festival and initially drew 250 attendees. It was held again in 2005 and 2006 before being rebranded as Yaga Gathering in 2007. The name “Yaga” comes from the Vedic tradition, referring to a ritual that involves offerings made in front of a sacred fire, symbolizing spiritual rebirth. Over the years, Yaga Gathering has grown into a significant cultural and spiritual event in Lithuania, attracting people from far and wide.
