Templo Mayor, Mexico City

The Templo Mayor, a pivotal archaeological site and museum nestled in the heart of Mexico City, stands as a testament to the grandeur of the Aztec civilization. Once the central temple of the ancient city of Tenochtitlan, this majestic structure was dedicated to the gods Huitzilopochtli, the deity of war, and Tlaloc, the god of rain and agriculture.

Excavated and partially reconstructed, the Templo Mayor offers a glimpse into the rich history and culture of the Aztecs. The temple, originally measuring approximately 100 meters on each side, was a double pyramid with twin temples at the top, signifying the two gods it was dedicated to.
