It is a relatively small viper, with a maximum total length of less than 40 centimeters, making it the smallest member of the Vipera genus, typically reaching only about 34.5 centimeters.
The Atlas Mountain Viper is found in the High Atlas Mountains of Morocco, specifically in the "Haut-Atlas, Massif du Toubkal, Maroc" at elevations ranging between 2,500 and 3,900 meters.
