Facts About Rfissa
Rfissa is a cherished Moroccan dish frequently enjoyed during special occasions. It features chicken, lentils, fenugreek seeds (known as tifiḍas in Amazigh and helba in Arabic), all served with msemmen, meloui, or even day-old bread, and is infused with a spice blend named ras el hanout.
Traditionally, rfissa is prepared for women who have recently given birth, as fenugreek is believed to aid in postpartum recovery. The dish's origins are connected to tharid, a traditional Arab dish reputedly favored by Prophet Muhammad. Interestingly, rfissa did not start appearing in Moroccan cookbooks until the 1990s.
