The Iron House is a prefabricated property, imported from Belgium to Mozambique and built in 1892 to house the governor-general's residence. Currently located on Samora Machel Avenue in Maputo, it was initially installed on Josina Machel Avenue, and housed various institutions such as the D. Amelia Institute, and before national independence the Geographic Museum.
