Sloepenloods, Brielle
Facts and practical information
The sloop shed in the South Holland town of Brielle is a shed on the Maarland Noordzijde. It was built in 1886 on behalf of the Genie 3de Commandement at Brielle, for the benefit of a detachment of the Torpedo Company stationed in the town since 1870.
The three-aisled shed has characteristics of eclecticism and was designed by engineers G.J. Blauw and P.C.B. van Marle.
The sloop shed lost its original function in 1922 with the departure of the Torpedo Service. Since then, the building has had several functions. Today it serves as the clubhouse of the local shooting club.
