When Is the Best Time To Visit Netherlands?
The answer to the question of what is the best month to visit the Netherlands depends on what you are interested in doing during your stay. Here you can see an overview of each month and its typical weather conditions.
Tourist Season in the Netherlands
The Netherlands is best visited during the summer from June to August. This is the ideal time for all forms of recreation. From beachcombing and sea bathing on the coast and the West Frisian Islands, to city sightseeing and hiking or biking.
The spring (April-May) and autumn (September-October) months are still a good time to travel to the Netherlands. Admittedly, the weather is not ideal, the days are slightly cooler and more humid and windy, but nature delights with its colors. In spring, tulips bloom, creating multicolored stretches of fields, while in autumn the fruits ripen and the trees take on golden red hues.
The winter period (November to March) is outside the tourist season. Low temperatures, strong winds and falling rain or snow can make a visit difficult.

The spring months can be quite changeable. Very warm and sunny days can be quickly followed by cool and rainy days. Air temperatures fluctuate between 10°C and 17°C, dropping a few degrees at night. This is a good time to visit cities and organize road trips. Nature awakening to life encourages walking or cycling outdoors.
In spring, thousands of flowers bloom in the Netherlands, including tulips, which are the country's symbol, creating unique multicolored landscapes. Bulb flowers, especially tulips, bloom from late March to early May. Tulips in their greatest glory are best viewed in mid-April. During this time, visit the flower-growing regions, including Bollenstreek, which is located around the famous Keukenhof tulip park. A tulip plantation can also be found in the province of Flevoland and the Kop van Noord-Holland region.

The windy autumn months bring gradual cooling and more cloud cover. The pillar of the mercury drops to 14°C - 18°C, and the number of sunny days also decreases. Fog and drizzle are typical during this period. Increasingly, thunderstorms occur along with rain. Although the weather is not ideal it is still a good time to travel to the Netherlands. The relatively warm days encourage sightseeing and touring around the country. Unfortunately, it's already too cool for beachcombing, but you can still go cycling or organize hiking.
