Climate of Netherlands
The Netherlands lies in the zone of temperate maritime climate warm, but humid and windy. It is significantly influenced by winds blowing from the North Sea.
The coast is marked by the favorable influence of warm currents, which make it more cheerful and sunny. In the east of the country, on the other hand, the influence of the somewhat harsher climate of Central Europe is evident.
Summers in the Netherlands are not very hot, the air temperature varies - lower in the north and higher in the south. It generally fluctuates between 20°C and 25°C, rarely there are hot days when it reaches 30°C.
Winters are usually mild, with the mercury column dropping to a few degrees above 0°C, however, frosts can occur at night. Snow is rare and tends to melt after a few hours. The winter months also bring strong winds, which cause the perceived temperature to be much lower than that seen on thermometers.
A characteristic feature of the Dutch climate is high humidity (about 84%) and frequent fog and strong winds. The weather is highly variable, with fleeting rains throughout the year and even on sunny days there are intense but short-lived downpours. Annual precipitation ranges from 770 mm in the center of the country to 850 mm in Limburg.
