Cerkiew Podniesienia Krzyża Świętego
Facts and practical information
Church of the Elevation of the Holy Cross in Dubiecko - a brick parish Greek Catholic church, located in Dubiecko.
The church was built in 1927, on the site of an earlier wooden church from 1774, which was renovated in 1879. After the war it was used as a warehouse. In the 1990s it was reclaimed by the Greek-Catholic Church, and used as the Borderland House of Art for galleries and exhibitions.
Through the efforts of the Friends of the Dubiecka Land Society, work was done to preserve the substance of the building and its partial restoration. In accordance with the association's intention, the building, with respect for its sacred character, has functioned since 12 September 2004 as the Kresowy Dom Sztuki.
The opening of the Kresy Art House was inaugurated by an exhibition entitled "Dubiecko - a meeting of three cultures and religions". Since then, the gallery has served as a meeting place between the past and the present, and as a space for cultural events.
The parish belonged to the Greek Catholic Kirchan decanate, and after World War I to the Pruchnic decanate. In 1863 it was divided into two independent parishes - in Dubiecko and Ruskie Siole.
