Góra Janowskiego

Janowski Mountain or Castle Mountain - a hill which is the highest elevation of the Krakow-Czestochowa Upland. It is located in the southern part of the Częstochowa Upland, in the village of Podzamcze in the municipality of Ogrodzieniec. It is 516 m above sea level. Formerly it was given the height of 504 m.
At the very top of Janowski Mountain there is a SPA hotel. A little lower, on the rocks in the northern slopes, there are the ruins of Ogrodzieniec Castle. The lower part of the western slopes is occupied by buildings of the Podzamcze village. Part of the hill is covered with forest, most of it is open space. Thanks to this the hill offers a wide panorama. In good visibility one can see the Carpathian Mountains.
The highest point of the hill is Czubatka rock. Besides it, there are numerous rocks on the hill that are attractive for rock climbers. They gave them names and divided into 3 sectors. In the area of Ogrodzieniec Castle, these are the rocks: Adept, Dziurawa, Furtki, Kaczor, Lalka, Niedźwiedź, Okiennik, Zakonnik, in the sector of the Ridge with a Hat Hat and Grań za Kapeluszem, in the sector Cim are the rocks: Bigos and Wrota, Kapa, Obeliski, Pierdolnik, Ratusz, Skała 504, Wielbłąd, Wielka and Mała Cima. For rock climbers, the area of climbing rocks was cleaned up in 2009, partially cleared of shrubs, and belay points were replaced.
The hill was formerly called Castle Hill. The name of Janowski's Mountain was given to commemorate the Polish traveler Aleksander Janowski, one of the founders of the Polish Tourist Society. He also saved from complete destruction the ruins of Ogrodzieniec Castle.
There are many caves in the rocks of Mount Janowski.
