Facts and practical information
Parów Sójek is a forest nature reserve located in the town of Podkowa Leśna, in Grodzisk county, in Mazowieckie province. It lies within the Warsaw Protected Landscape Area, within the territorial range of the Chojnów Forest Inspectorate, but outside its grounds. It covers an area of 3.84 ha.
The aim of protection is preservation of deciduous forests with predominance of oak and hornbeam of natural character with rich undergrowth characteristic for fertile oak-hornbeam habitats.
The reserve includes the remnants of natural oak-hornbeam and riparian forests within the urban development. Pedunculate oaks 130 years old grow here, along with lindens, hornbeams, ash and elm trees. In the undergrowth one can find the following plants: the common lady's-foot trefoil, the moth honeysuckle, the bindweed, the impatiens, and the common hop. Many bird species live here, including jays.
