Pałac w Sławikowie
Facts and practical information
Sławików Palace - a palace and park complex located in Sławików, Silesia, currently in ruins.
The palace, which is not the subject of comprehensive research by archaeologists and historians, does not have a definite date of construction. Edward Wieczorek determines the creation of the palace at the end of the nineteenth century, while Tadeusz Chrzanowski and Marian Kornecki in the Catalogue of Art Monuments in Poland dated the creation of the palace as the third quarter of the nineteenth century. Grzegorz Wawoczny, on the other hand, linked the construction of the palace with Frederick Grzegorz von Lautensac, who lived in Sławików.
Then, in 1795-1831 it belonged to the Eichendorff family. In the years 1856-1865, it was rebuilt by Ernest von Eikstedt in the spirit of 19th-century eclecticism with dominant neoclassical accents. The palace belonged to the descendants of Ernest von Eikstedt until 1945. The palace was partially destroyed during the battles for the Lubowitz bridgehead between the Wehrmacht and the Red Army at the end of World War II. During the communist era the furnishings were stolen and the palace fell into ruin.
The palace is surrounded by a 6 ha park with deciduous trees and the ruin of the von Eikstedt sepulchral chapel built in neo-Gothic style. In the surroundings of the palace there are also ruins of the former granary and orangery.
After 1989, the palace became the property of the Agricultural Property Agency, which sold it to a private investor. In 2005 the investor gave the property to the municipality of Rudnik, because he could not afford to maintain this monument. In 2011 the mayor of the municipality planned to put it up for auction.
As of 2018, the municipality of Rudnik, abandoning plans to sell the facility, is protecting the building from further degradation.
