Wzgórze Bendera, Wrocław
Facts and practical information
Bender's Hill - an artificial created hill in the South Park in Wrocław with an absolute height of 131 m above sea level.
For a long time, the hill did not have a name, but recently it has become increasingly common to use a name that was a translation of the German name, so the topic of naming it "Bender's Hills" came up in an August 18, 2013 interpellation by Councilman Sebastian Lorenc.
Bender's Hill was created during the construction of the embankment of the railroad freight bypass, from unused surplus land, the top of the hill was also decorated with erratic boulders found during the earthworks. At the same time, the Southern Park was being founded and its creators decided to arrange a garden of mountain plants on the hill. At the top of the hill a wooden gazebo was built, called von Wallenberg's pavilion, from which you could see the panorama of Wrocław and the Ślęża Massif, today due to the growth of trees the hill no longer has scenic value. The hill was named in honor of the mayor Georg Bender for his contributions to the development of Wrocław.
