Park Tysiąclecia, Sosnowiec
Facts and practical information
Tysiąclecia Park - a municipal park in Sosnowiec with an area of 102 ha, located in Baczyńskiego Street, one of three parks located in the Milowice district and the youngest next to: Milowice Park and Poniatowski Park, with which it is often confused. It is located at the end of the Old Borderland Bicycle Trail. The park abounds in anthropogenic forms which are the remnants of heaps, pits and wastelands left after the liquidated Saturn mine, which are covered with mixed anthropogenic and self-sown trees.
The park was bordered on the east by a logistics center and the S86 expressway, on the north by Baczyńskiego Street, and on the south by the Dąbrówka Mała district of Katowice. In its southern and western parts it lies on the Brynica River. In the park there are small, shallow ponds, one of which is a hunting pond. Most of the ponds are densely covered with aquatic plants. An animal shelter is located on the park's border. Well connected with other green areas of Sosnowiec and Katowice, it is a part of the Zagłębie Linear Park.
