Zadni Ornak, Tatra National Park

Zadni Ornak - the highest of several peaks of the Ornak mountain ridge in the Western Tatras, separating the upper part of the Kościeliska Valley from the upper part of the Chochołowska Valley.
The long ridge of Ornak has four peaks slightly rising above the main ridge. These are, counting from the side of Iwaniacka Przełęcz: Suchy Wierch Ornaczański, Ornak, Zadni Ornak and Kotłowa Czuba. Between Ornak and Zadni Ornak there is Ornaczańska Pass, from Kotłowa Czuba Zadni Ornak is separated by Kotłowy Saddle.
The section of the ridge south of Zadni Ornak is cut at a distance of about 100 m by ridge ditches. In the east direction the peak creates an extension - having a length of about 300 m group of rocks, the so-called Siwy Skały. They form the second, slightly lower top of Zadni Ornak. In the north-east direction from the Siwe Rocks to the Pyszniańska Valley descends the Jaworzynka Ridge forming orographically the right frame for the Ornaczanski Gorge. The western slopes descend not too steeply to the upper part of the Starorobotynska Valley.
The top of Zadni Ornak is rocky, the lower slopes are overgrown with grasses with rush with reddish stems. The top and the Grey Rocks area is a rocky debris covered with light green and grey lichens. This is the most rocky area of the whole Ornak ridge, which is mostly grassy, only in places covered with dwarf pine. Formerly these were the pastoral areas of the Ornak Hall. The interesting flora. Among others, on the ridge grows here the Rainbow Sedge - a very rare plant, found in Poland only in a few places in the Tatras and the Sudetes.
