Sivá veža / Siwy Zwornik, Tatra National Park
Facts and practical information
Siwy Zwornik - a peak in the Western Tatras lying in the main ridge of the Western Tatras. The Polish-Slovakian border crosses it. It is built of crystalline rocks. On the west there is Gaborowa Prze喚cz and a high pyramid of Starorobociański Wierch. On the south-east there is Liliowy Karb and a low, jagged ridge of Liliowe Turni. Siwy Zwornik rises above the three valleys: Starorobociańska, Pyszniańska and Gaborowa. From the northern and western side its slopes are rocky and quite steeply cut. The remaining slopes are covered with low grass with reddish sprouts.
It is an unexplored peak in a low ridge in this place, but of great topographic and orientation significance. It is the keystone summit of three ridges. Beside the arms of the main ridge, there is the third, north ridge of Siwe Zwornik, which through Siwe Turnie and Siwa Prze喚cz passes into the Ornak ridge. In the vicinity of Siwy Zwornik quite often among tourists confused route, especially in poor visibility. There was also a lot of confusion with the topographical naming of the area. For example, for a long time Liliowy Karb was incorrectly described on many maps and in guidebooks as Raczkowa Przełęcz. In order to avoid misunderstandings, the formerly non-existent name Siwy Zwornik was introduced as well as new names of both passes near it.
