The "Choina Mountain" nature reserve - A nature reserve located in southwestern Poland in the Wałbrzyskie Mountains in the Central Sudetes.
The reserve is located in the north-eastern part of the Black Mountains, in the Wałbrzyskie Mountains on the south-eastern slope of Choina Hill, about 1 km southeast of Zagórze Śląskie in the Walim municipality.
It is located entirely within the Natura 2000 PLH020071 "Ostoja Nietoperzy Gór Sowich" SAC and the Bardzkie and Sowich Mountains Protected Landscape Area.
The reserve was established in 1957 by order of the Minister of Forestry and Wood Industry. It is a reserve with an area of 19.13 ha established to protect rare species of protected plants and natural plant communities. The reserve was established mainly to protect the natural mixed forest growing on Choina Hill and to preserve the ruins of Grodno Castle.
The nature reserve is located on a gneiss hill Choina overgrown with mixed forest. At the top there is a medieval castle Grodno. The waters of Bystrzyckie Lake adjoin the reserve from the north-east side, separating the reserve from the Owl Mountains. Deciduous forests growing on the mountain ridges contain interesting specimens of old oak, lime and beech trees. Also interesting are the views from the gneiss rocks of the high left shore of the lake. The protected undergrowth, rich in a variety of species, includes: Urticon bellflower, multiflora, foxglove and many species of orchids and ferns.
