Park Jurija Gagarina, Poznań
Facts and practical information
Park Jurij Gagarina in Poznań - a park located in Poznań on the Osiedle Pod Lipami in the area of the auxiliary unit Osiedle New Winogrady South in Winogrady. It has an elongated shape on the east-west axis, occupying a small valley perpendicular to the river Warta, along Serbska Street, from Solidarności Roundabout to Naramowicka Street. It commemorates the Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin, referring to the Cosmonauts Estate located to the north.
Gagarin Park is an example of a modernist park layout, with later alterations and improvements. The whole is connected by a central avenue, from which minor walks, a playground and resting zones diverge, forming a clamshell outline in the middle. The main entrance was built from Solidarności Roundabout. In this place stands a modernist obelisk several meters high - a monument to Yuri Gagarin. Behind it, towards the valley, a wide staircase descends, which is the introductory zone to the park.
In the 1970s, a Lim airplane stood in the park and was one of the attractions for children.
The eastern part of the foundation was partially developed in the early 21st century by a small housing estate of Ataner.
