Rękawica, Ojców National Park
Facts and practical information
Glover, also known as Five-fingered or White Hand, a prominent rock with a distinctive shape in Ojców National Park. It is built of Jurassic limestone. It is located in the central part of the Prądnik Valley, on its western slope in the massif of Góra Koronnej and rises about 85 m above the valley floor.
The name of the rock is connected with a legend, according to which during one of the Tatar invasions the local people sought refuge in the Dark Cave, the entrance to which is nearby. However, the Tatars penetrated the valley looking for people. God then covered the cave entrance with his own hand, thus saving the people from death or ignominious slavery. Indeed, the rock, consisting of 5 finger-like columns at the top, resembles a hand in its shape. It is clearly visible both from the bottom of the valley and from the tourist trail leading through the Crown Mountain. From the viewing platform at the entrance to the Dark Cave you can see it in profile. Rock climbing is not allowed on this cave.
