Biakło
Facts and practical information
Biakło - a spur hill in the town of Olsztyn in Silesia Province, Częstochowa County. The hill has the form of a forestless, rocky ridge. On the northern side it neighbors with a rocky ridge of Lipówki, on the southern side it descends to a flat and forested depression separating it from the Falcon Mountains. The hill is built of limestone from the Jurassic period. There is a rock window at the southern end of the ridge and a limestone spire east of the summit. Numerous karst forms: cavities, grooves and ribs. It is surrounded on all sides by meadows.
The hill, thanks to its shape resembling the Tatra Giewont, is called a small Giewont. Similarly to Giewont, there is a cross on Biakle, left in the early 1990s by a pilgrimage of metal industry workers from Zawiercie. The hill is popular among tourists and climbers and belongs to the group of the so-called Olsztynian Rocks. Climbers distinguished on it several climbing rocks: Biakło, Garb, Mnich, Sphinx, Blin, Ship, With Juniper.
