Strzyża Valley Nature Reserve - a forest nature reserve with an area of 38.52 ha in Gdańsk-Bretowo, on the southern edge of the Tri-City Landscape Park. It was created in 2007. It has a buffer zone of 39.31 ha.
The purpose of nature protection in the reserve is to preserve the riparian and oak-hornbeam forests in the valley of the Strzyża stream and plant sites of protected and rare species. The reserve was extracted from the nature and landscape complex "Strzyża Valley" established in 2001.
The closest settlements to Gdansk are Matemblewo and Niedźwiednik. The purpose of the reserve is to create a buffer zone for these settlements, which were established in areas previously occupied by forests and bushes. Thanks to the establishment of the reserve, the settlements mentioned are protected from further development and constitute enclaves in the forest-meadow environment.
Strzyza Valley Nature Reserve is located on the Kartuski and Skarszewski tourist trails.
The area of the reserve is managed by the Gdańsk Forestry Commission and supervised by the Regional Directorate for Environmental Protection.
