Papal Cross - a metal, white cross several meters high, standing in Poznań, in the northern part of the John Paul II Park, on Łęgi Dębińskie, in the area of the auxiliary unit Osiedle Wilda, at Father Marian Żelazka Street.
The cross commemorates the mass celebrated by Pope John Paul II in Poznan on 20th June 1983, during his second trip to Poland. It stands exactly in place of the papal field altar. That meeting with the faithful was the largest gathering of people in the history of the city - the number of those present is estimated at one million people. At the foot of the cross there is a stone plaque with an engraved inscription: Here he celebrated the liturgy of the Holy Mass / Pope John Paul II / on June 20, 1983.
The cross is a religious meeting place.
