Park Leśnicki, Wrocław

Leśnicki Park - a former palace park located in the western part of Wrocław, within the Leśnica housing estate. The park is the southernmost part of a larger green area, whose northern part is Mokrzañski Forest. The park covers an area of 21 ha. It lies in an ecological corridor whose axis is the Bystrzyca River. The Leśnicki Park is maintained by the Municipal Greenery Management Board reporting to the Department of Architecture and Development of the Wroclaw City Hall. The current name of the park is in force pursuant to § 1 point 14 of the Resolution No. LXXI/454/93 of the City Council of Wroclaw of 9 October 1993 on the names of parks and forest areas existing in Wroclaw. The park with the palace complex is entered in the register of fixed monuments under the number ZU/4 of 29.01.1958 and A/5293/193 of 15.02.1962.

The park is located between the streets: Średzka - south of the park, Marszowicka - west of the park.

The eastern border of the park is marked by the Bystrzyca River. North of the park lie the Mokrzañski Forest, which is a water-bearing area. There is a water tower, erected at the beginning of the 20th century.

The basic attractions of the park include such objects as: ponds, dendrological specimens, hornbeam labyrinth, natural stands of anemones, and a playground for children. The Bystrzyca River flows near the park. The existing footbridge allows to go to the Stabłowice estate. There are also a few nature monuments in the park, specimens of the plane tree and the pedunculate oak.

However, one of the biggest attractions of this place is the Renaissance castle located in the southern part of the park, which houses, among others, the "Zamek" Cultural Center.

In the 19th century the park was landscaped by J.P. Lenne. In the post-war period the park declined and war damage was not removed. It was not until the late 20th century, under the direction of Halina Krajewska, that the park was restored in a manner reminiscent of J.P. Lenne's concept.
