Facts and practical information
Józef Lewandowski Kolowskie Parowy Nature Reserve - a forest reserve with an area of 24.34 ha, established on May 30, 1956 as "Kolowskie Parowy Nature Reserve". It lies in the West Pomeranian Province, in the central part of Szczecin Landscape Park "Bukowa Forest", 1.5 km east of Kołowo. In 1982, by order of the Minister of Forestry and Wood Industry dated 23 August, it was renamed in honour of Józef Lewandowski.
The reserve is a deciduous forest on the slopes of moraine hills, whose main purpose is to preserve the beech forest in different typological varieties with rich herbaceous plant communities in the undergrowth. The Utrata stream flows through the reserve, disappearing suddenly and reappearing just as suddenly. The bottom of the ravine is occupied by spring beech.
The reserve is under active protection.
Protected plants: broad-leaved helleborine, purple loosestrife, common buckthorn, coral calla, woodruff.
Rare and declining plants: single-flowered pearlweed, wood fescue, perennial toothbrush, common hemlock, crested sedge, javelina weed, hollow coconut, common cudweed
Some common plants: Milium effusum, Viola reichenbachiana, Galeobdolon luteum, Anemone nemorosa, Oxalis acetosella.
In the southeastern corner of the reserve, at the intersection of the roads from Szczecin Śmierdnica and Kołowo, an erratic boulder with a plaque commemorating Józef Lewandowski, M.Sc. Eng.
