Facts About Ponce Jazz Festival
The Ponce Jazz Festival is an annual musical extravaganza held in Ponce, Puerto Rico, typically occurring over a weekend at the end of April. Since its inception in 2012, the festival has been hosted in the picturesque Concha Acústica Amphitheatre at Parque de la Abolición in Barrio Cuarto. It’s a must-attend event for jazz enthusiasts, featuring a stellar lineup of talented groups and artists.
In its inaugural year, the 2012 festival showcased performances by an array of artists, including Grupo Zambaríbiri Stage Band, Escuela de Música de Guayama, Grupo Sound Jazz y Jazz Jam, Edwin Gutiérrez & Jazz Project, Charlie Sepúlveda & The Turnaround Band, Julito Alvarado and his group, Eugenio Torres & Sol Creciente, Banda Municipal de Ponce, Carlos Juan Colón & Manus, and William Cepeda.
The 2013 edition continued this tradition with an impressive roster of artists such as the Stage Band from Instituto de Música Juan Morel Campos, Diversis Quartet, flautist Joche Caraballo and his Trio, Irvin Cancel and his Band, Luis Gonzalez & his Orchestra, Joseito Ruiz & Quartet, PuertoSax, Black Jazz Master, and Jazz Big Band.
