Refuge de la Caverne Dufour

The Piton des Neiges hut, or sometimes the Dufour Cave hut, is a mountain hut on the island of Reunion, a French overseas department and region in the southwestern Indian Ocean. Located near the Dufour cave at an altitude of 2,470 meters in the massif of Piton des Neiges, it falls under the territory of the municipality of Saint-Benoît and the heart of the National Park of Reunion. With a capacity of 48 beds, it welcomes mostly hikers, especially those who want to see the Piton des Neiges, the highest point of the island. The lodge is served by the GR R1, a long-distance hiking trail that crosses at a short distance from there another similar trail, this time the GR R2.
