The Wooden Church of Bogdan Vodă
Facts and practical information
The wooden church of St. Nicholas in Cuhea is believed to have been built in 1718. Unlike most Maramures churches, which are located on hills, the church of St. Nicholas is in the middle of the village, in the middle of the old cemetery. The walls are built of hewn beams, without decoration, the only exception being the carved twisted rope that surrounds the church. The interior walls were painted in 1754 at the request of the noble founder Vasile Săpânțan.
The wooden church was declared a monument by Law No. 5/2000 on the approval of the national land use plan. On the 2010 list it has the LMI code MM-II-m-A-04524.
