The Fortified Church of Cincu
Facts and practical information
The fortified church of Cincu is dedicated to the Virgin Mary and is one of the largest Roman basilicas located in a Saxon town in Romania. Due to the way the church is located on a hill between the Olt and Hârtibaciu rivers, with three very steep sides, it is considered a unique basilica because it was defended only on the western side of the hill. The church was built in the village of Cincu in Brasov county by German settlers in the mid-13th century. The ensemble of the fortified evangelical church of Cincu is registered in the list of historical monuments of Brașov county under the LMI code BV-II-a-A-11639 having three main objectives: the evangelical church, sec. XIII, 1522, 1694, 1754-1755, 1815, under the LMI code BV-II-m-A-11639.01; Fortified enclosure - fragments of the inner enclosure and bastion, sec.
