Belgrade Beer Fest

The Belgrade Beer Fest is a thrilling annual beer festival that takes place every August in Belgrade, Serbia. Since its inception in 2003, it has blossomed into a five-day celebration where beer aficionados can sample a diverse array of both domestic and international brews. Yet, it’s not solely about the beer; each evening is brimming with live music performances that keep the energy high and the crowds entertained.

A significant highlight of the Belgrade Beer Fest is its completely free admission. This undoubtedly has propelled its immense popularity, with attendance reaching an impressive 900,000 visitors in 2010.

The festival has also attracted international acclaim. In 2006, The Independent, a British newspaper, lauded it as one of the must-visit events worldwide.

However, the festival's history has not been devoid of dark moments. In 2007, a tragic incident occurred when a young man's body was discovered in a bear cage at the Belgrade Zoo during the festival. This led to the event being relocated from its original site at the Fortress the following year. Another unfortunate event transpired in 2011 when an assailant stabbed eight festival-goers. Fortunately, the attacker was apprehended and sentenced to seven years in prison.

Despite these adversities, the Belgrade Beer Fest remains a cherished event, drawing crowds from around the globe to celebrate the joys of beer and music. It stands as a testament to the festival's resilience and enduring allure.
