Cinema City

Cinema City is a vibrant international film festival that illuminates Novi Sad, Serbia, every year. This festival transforms the city into a bustling hub of film, music, and scholarly activities. It is divided into three main sections: Cinema City Films, PRO, and Music, spread across more than ten different locations throughout the city.

In the Cinema City Films section, attendees can watch over 100 independent films, spotlighting emerging filmmakers from Serbia, the surrounding region, and around the world. The competition categories include National Class, Up to 10,000 Bucks, and Fresh Danube Films. The PRO section caters to film professionals, focusing on education, networking, and fostering collaboration within the local and regional film industry. Meanwhile, the Music segment maintains high energy with parties, concerts, and various musical events throughout the festival.

The festival has been independently organized by the Cinema City Association since 2010. Over the years, it has grown into a key cultural and cinematic event in Serbia and the region, attracting renowned guests and filmmakers. Notable attendees have included Guillermo Arriaga, Emir Kusturica, and Juliette Lewis.

Cinema City also bestows several awards, including the Ibis Award, named after a bird native to the Danube region. These awards celebrate excellence in directing, acting, screenplay, and more. Each year, a new panel of industry professionals and critics serves as the jury.

Over the years, Cinema City has honored many acclaimed films and filmmakers, promoting independent cinema and cultural diversity in the region. The festival continues to evolve and expand its programs, securing its place as a major cultural event in Novi Sad and beyond.
