OD Slimák, Bratislava
Facts and practical information
Slimák is a department store in Bratislava in the city's New Town on Kukučínova Street. His architect was Ivan Matušík.
Slimák was the first construction of Matušík, which was significant. In the period of ideological "fragmentation" in the late 1950s, in 1957 Matušík explored the building, which we can easily assign to the program buildings of our modern architecture. The ideological fragmentation during this period has already been stuck from the ideas of cifled socialist realism to socialist realism without cifting, but words about imitating Western architecture to Slámák have still been disappeared. The then ideologues then described the slug as "individualistic and cosmopolitan architecture". In the sense of the ideological "fragmentation" of that period, nothing was done perfectly.
At the end of the 1990s, the slug was subjected to many modifications. The adjustment that Slug had completed was completely away from its original quality, and so the valuable building became only an ordinary ordinary product of socialist architecture.
