Vrchriečky / Wierchliczka
Facts and practical information
Wierchliczka, 963 m - a peak in the main back of the small Pieniny, located between the district of the Pass and Watrisko. It is the furthest to the east of the Polish Small Pieniny. Its top is called Skałka. Slovak-Polish border runs through it. The southern, Slovak slopes of Wierchliczka are covered with forest and are part of the Pienap. On the northern Polish side under the peak there is a large glade stack with views of the Beskid Sądecki. Further on a small forest belt and again large and discovered slopes falling into the Valley Biała Woda. Both the clearing and the discovered slopes around the pass are distributed by the former arable fields of the now non -existent village of Biała Woda. After the war and the displacement of the Lemkos inhabiting her, the fields were a great effort, a socialist cooperative and sheep breeding were founded on them. A large hut was built, which turned out to be impractical and was not used. Currently, there are decaying ruins near the forest near the pass. Sheep and cows are grazed in the great pastures by shepherds from Podhale. Some arable fields in the back from Wierchliczka to Wysoka were forested with larch, pine and spruce.
The northern slopes of Wierchliczka are dehydrated by the Brysztan stream, which in the area of the Biała Woda nature reserve goes to the Biała Water stream. The name of the peak comes from the Slovak stream Riečka flowing down its southern slopes.
Wierchliczka is a summit peak. In the south-eastern direction, a long ridge leaves her, which on the Slovak side pulls through Faklówka and Wielka Góra to the town of Jarzębina. The Great Mountain on it is the furthest to the east of the Pieniny hill.
From rare species of plants in Poland in Wierchliczka, a hilly thistle is growing.
