Facts About West Canary skink
The West Canary skink, also known as the Canaryan cylindrical skink, East Canary Islands skink, Tenerife skink, and referred to as lisa dorada in Spanish, is a captivating lizard species belonging to the family Scincidae. Native to the Canary Islands, this skink inhabits a diverse array of environments, including temperate forests, shrublands, dry shrublands, Mediterranean-type vegetation, grasslands, rocky and sandy shores, as well as cultivated lands, pastures, rural gardens, and urban areas. They thrive at elevations up to 2,000 meters (6,600 feet).
The West Canary skink is active during the day and at twilight (diurnal and crepuscular), similar to its relative, the Gran Canaria skink. This species can be observed on the islands of Tenerife, El Hierro, Roque de Garachico, and Roque de Agna in the Canary Islands.
