Facts and practical information
The Monastery of Santa Clara de Palencia, more popularly known as Monasterio de las Claras, is a religious building built in Gothic style between the 14th and 15th centuries. The conventual part is still inhabited by a community of Poor Clare nuns and the church is open to regular worship. The monastery bases its fame on the devotional image of the Santísimo Cristo de las Claras, a recumbent figure whose marked expressiveness has given rise to a literature of legends and miracles.
