Pico Cornón
Facts and practical information
El Cornón is the highest peak of the Cordel mountain range, with an altitude of 2125 metres above sea level. It is located between the municipalities of Polaciones and Hermandad de Campoo de Suso in Cantabria.
It is the easternmost peak of the Cordel system. To the west it descends to the Collado de la Fuente del Chivo, which is the vertex between the angle formed by the aforementioned mountain range and that of Híjar.
Its northern slope extends in the form of a buttress to the cueto Midiajo, above the town of Uznayo, in the valley of the river Nansa.
Its southern slope closes to the north the Circo de Tres Mares, where the winter resort of Alto Campoo is located. On the same slope is the source of the river Guares, one of the main tributaries of Híjar, the source of the Ebro.
