The urban sculpture known by the name Monument to the Victims of Terrorism, located in Ángel González Square, in the city of Oviedo, Principality of Asturias, Spain, is one of more than a hundred that adorn the streets of the aforementioned Spanish city, generally commemorative monuments, many of them dedicated to characters of special relevance at first, and more purely artistic since the late twentieth century.
The sculpture, made of granite and travertine marble, is the work of José Luis Sánchez, a member of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando, and is dated 2007.
The monument consists of a self-supporting stainless steel structure veneered in deep black granite, with the sandblasted engraving of the names of the victims of terrorism from its beginning in 1968 until 2007, a total of 1500 names at that time; the sculptural ensemble is completed with a huge white "Hand of Fatima", made with a numerical control milling machine in travertine marble.
