The monument to Alejandro Casona, located on Alejandro Casona Street in the city of Oviedo, Principality of Asturias, Spain, is one of more than a hundred urban sculptures that adorn the streets of the aforementioned Spanish city.
The urban landscape of this city is adorned by sculptural works, generally commemorative monuments dedicated to important people at first, and more purely artistic since the late twentieth century.
The sculpture, made in bronze, is the work of Amado González Hevia "Favila", and is dated 1997. It is a bust, signed by the author, with which he tries to remember the playwright from Cangas de Narcea, Alejandro Rodríguez Álvarez, known as Alejandro Casona. In it we can contemplate the writer in a pensive attitude with his left hand resting on his chin and his right hand resting on an open book, on the cover of which we can read "La Dama del Alba". The set is completed with a skull symbol of the theatrical drama. The sculptural set has a bronze plaque located on the pedestal, which reads: "THE EXCMO./AYUNTAMIENTO/DE OVIEDO A/DN ALEJANDRO CASONA/1903 - 1965".
