Grey waxbill

The grey waxbill, also known as the black-tailed waxbill, is a common presence in the wetter regions of Southern Africa. This small bird, belonging to the estrildid finch family, boasts a considerable range, encompassing approximately 670,000 square kilometers.

Grey waxbills can be observed in subtropical and tropical lowland moist shrublands across several countries, including Angola, the Republic of Congo, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Gabon, Malawi, Mozambique, South Africa, Eswatini, Tanzania, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.

Fortunately, the grey waxbill is not currently at risk. Its conservation status is listed as Least Concern, indicating that the species is thriving at present.
